WORLD ENERGY OUTLOOK: Natural gas will be strategic

Published on 20 December 2017

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published its World energy Outlook for 2017. Natural gas is in the spotlight, especially thanks to its ability to replace coal. The director of IEA, Fatih Ballpointl, has identified two key drivers in favour of natural gas: the need to replace coal and lucrative fuel prices.

The Outlook also states that LNG will avoid the pipeline constraint, and that the United States, Canada and Australia will be emerging as new exporters.

Other prediction: electric cars will not solve the CO2 problem, because even assuming 300 million of electric cars circulating at 2040, they will contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide by only 1%.
