Landi Renzo with the “Da Vinci” Institute at the Shell Eco Marathon

Landi Renzo will be the main sponsor of the Leonardo da Vinci Institute in Carpi as it participates for the second year in a row in the international “Shell Eco Marathon” competition for ecological vehicles with its hydrogen-fuelled vehicle Escorpio (http://escorpio.itisvinci.com). The competition will be held in Nogaro (France) May 22 through 24. The sponsorship is inspired by the shared goal of meeting the challenge of sustainable mobility.

Landi Renzo, a world leader in the field of alternative LPG and natural gas fuel systems and components for motor vehicles, is involved in a number of important technological partnerships in the area of hydrogen-fuelled vehicles.

The Carpi institute and its “ZeroC” team aim to improve on the excellent results they achieved last year, when they travelled 942 km on 1 litre of hydrogen/gasoline equivalent, coming in first among Italian vehicles.

The 2008 race will see 200 teams at the starting line, including 8 Italian teams. The event has been held every year since 1985 to encourage young people to come up with innovative approaches to sustainable mobility, and offers an excellent example of cooperation between universities and industry.
