Electrical: is it really green?

Published on 1 February 2017

The "well-to-wheel" analysis assesses the entire energy chain in the automotive sector, i.e. the production of fuels and cars, and their use on the road. This is the assessment method used by the Copenhagen Consensus Center - a think tank that analyses the actual costs and benefits of solutions that claim to be green - in a video dedicated to electric cars. The video shows that if the energy used to produce and use electric cars is obtained from coal, this does not reduce carbon dioxide emissions compared to petrol-run cars; instead, LPG and CNG powered vehicles do, confirming they are much greener.
